Welcome to my new weekly column that is a one-stop-shop for all things fantasy. Want a buy-low target for seasonal? Got it. Need the best pick-up on the Waiver Wire? I’m your man. Need dynasty stashes? I have dyno nuggets galore. Of course. I may even throw in a devy blurb once in a while for all you lovable degens out there. Without further ado, let me, the Fantasy Leonardo DaVinci, help improve your fantasy performance through a little Wheelin’ & Dealin’.
Buy: Jay Ajayi | RB | Philadelphia Eagles
The Jay Ajayi owner has had quite the rollercoaster ride. Two bye weeks, Jay Cutler, a trade, you name the kind of tilt, they have experienced it. They might be ready to send him on his way by now and that would be a huge mistake in my opinion. The Eagles RB position has been hard to pinpoint this season but each week there has been production. Now all of that production will be pushed to Ajayi. The Eagles also have solid fantasy matchups in Week 15 and Week 16.
Sell: Jamaal Williams | RB | Green Bay Packers
With all the injuries to Green Bay running backs, Williams has been thrust to the forefront of that backfield. I would try and trade him to a team that needs a starter for this week. An owner’s week of desperation could pay big dividends.
Pick-up: Austin Ekeler | RB | L.A. Chargers
Austin Ekeler needs to be owned in all leagues. He’s one of the few handcuffs left that have independent value. Over the last three weeks, Ekeler is getting around 30-percent of the offensive snaps and 9.67 touches per game.
Drop: Tyrod Taylor | QB | Buffalo Bills
This week Tyrod was benched in favor of rookie Nathan Peterman. Some owners may be holding on to him in hopes of this being a temporary benching but that is unwise. The Bills and Taylor are going through quite the messy divorce and I can’t envision the Bills reinstalling him at QB. The options for the Bills are now: win with Peterman or tank for the rest of the season.
Tyrod retains some value in dynasty formats. Next year, Taylor will look great in a Jaguars uniform. Regarding Nathan Peterman, I don’t have my hopes up for him as an NFL QB. My opinion of him will always be tainted by the absolute implosion he suffered against Florida while a member of the Tennessee Volunteers but he seems like a poor man’s Kirk Cousins to me.
Add Jonathan Williams immediately. The Saints recently signed him off the Broncos practice squad after winning a bidding battle against the Falcons. The Saints have transformed into a dominant running team and if Mark Ingram were to go down, Williams would step seamlessly into that role.
