Andrew Ferris, @AndyFerrisFF
Welcome to my new weekly column that is a one-stop-shop for all things fantasy. Want a buy-low target for seasonal? Got it. Need the best pickup on the Waiver Wire? I’m your man. Need dynasty stashes? I have dyno nuggets galore. DFS plays and fades? Of course. I may even throw in a devy blurb once in a while for all you lovable degens out there. Without further ado, let me, the Fantasy Leonardo DaVinci, help improve your fantasy performance through a little Wheelin’ & Dealin’.
Buy: Rishard Matthews | WR | Tennessee Titans
Matthews next opponents include Houston, Miami, Indianapolis, and Cleveland. This is a prime stretch for a WR averaging just over 7 targets a game in his last 16 games. 3 out of the 4 games are also away games, using the RotoViz Game Splits App you can see that Matthews has been better on the road than at home since joining the Titans. A trade for Matthews guarantees WR2 numbers for the next 4 weeks and will propel your team towards the fantasy playoffs. It’s time to get wheelin’ & dealin’ on some trades to get Rishard Matthews on your roster.
Sell: Chris Thompson | RB | Washington Football Team
Anyone who has been following my writing, takes, tweets, etc., knows that writing this pains me. But Chris Thompson has been producing above his ceiling for all three weeks of the year. The efficiency that Thompson has shown this season will be impossible to keep up and I think it is time to cash in this lotto ticket. We can’t forget that Thompson has had knee and back injuries in the past and is not big enough to excel in an expanded role in the offense. Eventually, some of his passing game usage will be redistributed to some of the WRs like Josh Doctson, Jamison Crowder, and Terrelle Pryor. Bye Chris Thompson… :tear emoji:
Pickup: Andre Ellington | RB | Arizona Cardinals
Does anybody remember when Andre Ellington was considered one of the next big things at RB? Injuries and David Johnson derailed that dream rather quickly but it is clear that with Johnson out Ellington has the most PPR value of any Cardinals RB. Over the past two games, he has been targeted 13 times making him the 6th most targeted RB. Every other RB in the top-10, TyMont, Christian McCaffrey, Shady McCoy, Thompson, Tarik Cohen, Duke Johnson, Buck Allen, Alvin Kamara. And Theo Riddick are on rosters, so why not Ellington? He plays in an offense predicated on downfield passing mixed with passes to the RB and he’s that guy.
Drop: Rashard Higgins | WR | Cleveland Browns
This guy was last week’s waiver wire darling but I stayed away. He may be talented but his production is too game script dependent. He has very little touchdown upside and will have erratic numbers. I’d much rather roster a high-upside handcuff or pass-catching RB. It’s time to get wheelin’ & dealin’ and drop last weeks news.
Play: Jared Cook | TE | $3,400
The TE position has been a landmine this year outside of Rob Gronkowski, Delanie Walker, and Zach Ertz. One player who has been surprisingly consistent has been Jared Cook. Through 3 weeks, Cook has posted 10.6, 6.5, and 14.3 DK Points. This week, Cook faces a Denver team that will surely shut down the Raiders receivers which will funnel targets to Cook. I think he’s a lock to be dealin’ double-digit DK Points.
Fade: Julio Jones | WR | $8,800
Julio Jones will be a popular option this week with the Falcons being home against the underdog Buffalo Bills. Jones, however, will see a lot of AFC Rookie of the Month, Tre’davious White. He’s also found himself on the injury report this week with a back injury. I think that OBJ makes a lot more sense if paying that kind of price tag at WR this week.
One player, I’ve been investing in lately in dynasty is Bruce Ellington. If you remember the last off-season, Ellington was a popular breakout pick. Fast-forward 14 months and Ellington is now on the Texans. Last week he was in on 99% of offensive snaps and was targeted 7 times. Ellington looks like he is the WR2 that is connected to a young and exciting QB. This has me looking at him like the girl below. I’m wheelin’ & dealin’ to roster my man Bruce.
The week starts off with two nice devy laden matchups on Friday night. First Duke and Daniel Jones will take on Miami. Look for Daniel Jones to break onto the national scene and Ahmmon Richards to make his season debut. USC also travels to Wazzu. Ronald Jones, Sam Darnold, and Stephen Carr are far more talented than anyone Wazzu will put on the field but look for Luke Falk to make a statement against USC. Saturday is a fairly weak slate but it will be interesting to watch the Okie State offense against Texas Tech the week after a loss. 70 points is a real possibility.
