Week 6 Hot Plays: Hottest Plays of the Week

Below are the hottest plays of the week. A good mix of chalk for your cash teams, some GPP targets, and nothing but fire.

Quarterback Hottest Plays

Drew Brees | $7,200

Drew Brees gets the Detroit Lions in a home game. Last week, the Lions surrendered 355 yards to the Carolina Panthers and I think we can expect similar results this week. Professional gamblers have been hammering the Saints and I’m going to take their lead. Brees has 5 TD upside and you can play him naked due to his propensity to spread the ball around.

Kirk Cousins | $6,800

Kirk Cousins is coming off of a bye week for his in-person tryout with Kyle Shanahan. Rob Kelley is once again hurt so I think the Washington football team will lean on Cousins’ arm to get the job done. Cousins is another QB that spreads the ball around. The Niners have given up 300-yard games to QBs like Jacoby Brissett and Jared Goff so Kirk Cousins has a great shot at the 300-yard bonus with multiple TDs making him one of the hottest plays of the week.

Running Back Hottest Plays

Jordan Howard | $5,900

I’m old enough to remember fantasy experts thinking 5’6 180 lb Tarik Cohen was going to take over Jordan Howard’s job. Even with his terrible start, Howard is the RB12 in DraftKings points with 73.80. He remains the focal point of the Bears offense and gets a Baltimore Ravens team that may still be missing Brandon Williams this week. Keep an eye on Williams’ status because it heavily affects how productive Howard can be.

Mike Gillislee | $5,300

Every week that the Patriots play Mike GIllislee has 3 TD upside. As 9-point favorites, the Patriots game script should favor heavy usage for Gillislee. On top of that, Brady and Gronk are banged up so the offense may indeed run more than we are used to.

Elijah McGuire | $4,600

The Jets might be missing Bilal Powell for this weekend’s game against the Patriots which would ensure heavy usage for McGuire. With so many players in love with Jerick McKinnon and Alvin Kamara this week, players like Elijah McGuire might go under-owned.

Alex Collins | $4,400

Alex Collins is very close to locking up the Ravens feature back job. Currently, Collins has 7 rushes of 15 yards or more on only 37 attempts. Collins is a high-upside leverage play off of Alvin Kamara.

Mark Ingram | $4,400

Speaking of leverage plays off Alvin Kamara… Mark Ingram is still the feature back in New Orleans and will still see over 50% of the offensive snaps. It is definitely in the range of possibilities for Mark Ingram to put up top-8 RB numbers this week while being a low-owned alternative to his teammate.

Wide Receiver Hottest Plays

Adam Thielen | $6,000

Diggs is going to be out this week so Adam Thielen is going to be an absolute target monster. Thielen is a top-10 WR priced as the WR17 on the main slate. Thielen has a ton of room to return huge value on his cost. He’s definitely one of the hottest plays of the week.

Desean Jackson | $5,800

Desean Jackson will be running routes against the passing sieve that is Justin Bethel. Bethel has given up TDs of 37, 45, and 59 yards thus far in 2017 and was no better in 2016. Jackson is going to get behind him for not one, but two long TDs this week.

Taylor Gabriel | $4,600

In the lone game that Taylor Gabriel has played without Mohamed Sanu in the lineup, he scored 17.2 PPR points. This is an extremely small sample but you have to like the Falcons coming off a bye finding ways to get their little waterbug involved. Gabriel has extreme upside this week.

Ricardo Louis | $3,900

Ricardo Louis is the new Browns WR1. That’s not saying much but it does give Louis some upside in his matchup this week against the Texans. 10 targets are within the range of outcomes for this sub-$4,000 priced WR.

Albert Wilson | $3,200

The Chris Conley injury should open up a few more targets for Albert Wilson. Wilson, who, according to NFL Next Gen stats, is averaging the most yards of separation on pass routes which should make him an attractive WR2 to Alex Smith.

Tight End Hottest Plays

Ryan Griffin | $4,000

I love stacking Griffin with Deshaun Watson this week or playing Griffin naked. Either way, it’s a TE against the Browns. Lock him in for a TD.

Austin Hooper | $3,500

One would imagine that the Falcons spent some of the off-week trying to figure out ways to get Hooper more involved. He’s very close in salary to George Kittle who will be a target of point chasers everywhere.

Coby Fleener | $3,200

Fleener is my favorite stacking option with Drew Brees. He’s come a long way from losing snaps to Josh Hill last year. Lock Fleener in a few of your GPP lineups with Brees.

Adding to the potential of a huge week for DeSean Jackson is the fact that Mike Evans may be limited on the opposite side matched up against Patrick Peterson. I am high on McGuire this week given the potential absence or limitations of Bilal Powell and Matt Forte who are both banged up. Ryan Griffin has the makings to be a great play as well, as does just about every target in the humming Houston offense that benefits from the favorable match-up.
